The Provimi Method Of Cooking Veal

Good cooking and delicious recipes all have one thing in common – they’re the result of a chef taking a risk and getting bold with their experimentation! This is especially the case when it comes to the different methods of cooking meat. Over the years, chefs have experimented with their craft to try to bring out the best of their meat’s flavor. Those recipes that have withstood the test of time did so for a reason: because they yielded a delicious final product! Veal cooking, in particular, has been made better by using a technique called the provimi method. But what is the provimi method for cooking veal? We’ll explain more below!

The Origins of the Provimi Method

Many Italian-based cooking methods are often named by the region or area they originated in. When it comes to the provimi method, however, this actually isn’t the case! This style of cooking veal was named after the company Provimi, a company specializing in animal nutrition, in the mid-1900s. It was originally developed in Holland before it was brought to the rest of the world in the 1960s. Today, it is still the most noteworthy producer of this type of veal, although many question their methods of raising livestock. However, the practice has altered significantly to reduce antibiotic use and increase the calves’s living space.

How The Calves Are Raised

There’s a reason why Provimi chose the name it did for its company: it’s actually an abbreviation of protein, vitamins, and minerals! If you haven’t guessed by now, this company places a special emphasis on these parts of a calf’s diet. They are routinely fed foods of this caliber, including milk and mineral supplements, to ensure that the meat is as tender and delicious as it can be. Because this method of raising veal is more specialized than other methods, Provimi veal is a little bit more expensive than the other veal varieties that are out there. However, you’re also paying for a heightened taste!

How Does Provimi Veal Taste?

When you take a cut of provimi veal and put it side by side with a different cut, the differences will be noticeable almost immediately. Normal cuts of veal are a grayish pink in color, while provimi veal has an almost white color to it. This type of veal is also extremely tender when compared with other types. Provimi veal is an overall more tender and flavorful type of veal.
