Best Methods of Cooking Steak

You wouldn’t think of meat as having a ton of variety, but you’d be mistaken if you did! The variety of steak comes with all the different ways you can cook it and styles you can cook it in. Your perfect steak dish might be vastly different from someone else’s! There are plenty of people that like their steak rare, and plenty that like it cooked more thoroughly. How you choose to cook your steak will determine how it tastes. So, what’s the best method for getting the best result? We break down the different types below!

Pan Searing

Pan searing steaks is not just the most popular way of cooking steak – it is also the easiest method by far! All you’ll need to do beforehand is melt oil or butter on your pan, and you’ll be able to cook your steak quickly and easily. This cooking method is recommended primarily for thinner cuts of meat, as thicker cuts will take longer to cook and may not be cooked thoroughly when all is said and done.

Grilling

If pan searing is the most popular method of cooking steak, grilling is a close second. Grilling allows you to cook at much higher temperatures than pan frying, meaning that the cuts of meat that you can use for this method can be far thicker. Like pan searing, grilling your steaks doesn’t take very much time, so you won’t need to extend much effort to get the results you want.

Oven Baking

Oven baking is a bit more tedious than the previously mentioned methods, but the results can be just as delicious. This method actually combines pan searing with an oven finish. Essentially, you start with a pan sear and then move it to the oven for a 10 to 15 minute window. You’ll also need to let it sit after you take it out of the oven to ensure the juices have enough time to soak into the meat. You’ll get a lot of flavor with this method, but you’ll need to pack your patience!
